Swedish Chess League in collaboration with Chess.com
As previously announced, Fragbite Group's subsidiary Fragbite AB has entered into an agreement with the Swedish Chess Federation to start up the first Swedish e-sports league in chess – the Swedish Chess League. A collaboration agreement has now been entered into with Chess.com, which is the world's largest online chess platform with over 75 million members.
– The fact that the world's largest platform for online chess chooses to collaborate with us as an official platform is of course a strong proof that we have found something compelling. Chess.com is the preferred and trusted platform for the world's greatest titled chess players. Together, we will be able to offer the best possible platform for our players in the Swedish Chess League and at the same time enable expansion to new markets when the time is right, comments Daniel Pereaux, VP E-sports Fragbite Group.
– Chess.com is proud to be selected as the official platform for the Swedish Chess League and looks forward to supporting the league through our world-renowned and trusted platform. Growing the game of chess around the world has always been a core mission of Chess.com, and furthering the development of chess as an esport in Sweden fits that mission perfectly, comments Austin Gasparini, Director of Business Development from Chess.com.
The ambition with the new e-sports league is to engage more chess players in the target group 18-35 years and establish chess as a real e-sport in Sweden. The Swedish Chess League is expected to start later this autumn.
